Research Abstract |
1) Methods of using motion capture systems for recording and analyzing intangible cultural properties have been investigated. Possibilities of using multiple angle video recording have been also studied in order to complement the motion-captured data. Furthermore, method of archiving image, video, motion captured data concerning to intangible cultural properties has been investigated. 2) A method of generating Labanotation dance score from motion captured body motion data has been developed. This method can be used for recording and generating coded description of varieties of dance movement. 3D CG animation of body motion can be reproduced from generated Labanotation data. 3) Methods of extracting some feature values from motion-captured data have been investigated. One of them is to extract "pause" from body motion. Comparison of dances can be made basing on the temporal distribution of these pauses. Also, a method of extracting some typical frames expressing the dance body motion form a sequence of frames, and a method of retrieving similar motion data from motion data stored in a database have been studied. 4) A supporting system for developing multimedia teaching materials for dance education was developed. By using this system multimedia material which consists of motion-captured data, video and Labanotation score can be produced. 5) Interactive Labanotation editor named LabanEditor has been developed. 3D CG motion can be generated from Labanotation data. This system is powerful for recording various dances as well as Labanotation education. 6) Academic symposium "Motion capture and dance research" was held.
