Research Abstract |
On this research, we tried to develop new technologies to regenerate the liver, skin-hair, and cartilagebone from the adult tissue stem cells. 1. Liver. We established several cell clones from the liver epithelium and succeeded to induce the differentiation of them to the hepatocytes in vitro. We also tried and partially succeeded to recover the liver function on the experimental animals by using these cells. 2. Skin-Hair. We developed a new-technology to accelerate the formation of the cultured epithelium by using Sonic hedgehog expressing feeder cells. This result indicates that the application of the knowledge from the molecular biology is useful to develop the tissue engineering. 3. Mesenchyme. We obtained mesenchymal stem cells from the human bone marrow and succeeded to differentiate them to the osteoblast, chondrocytes, and adipocytes. We are trying to apply these cells to the plastic surgery. The connective research among regions was very powerful and useful for the combined and prompt research.
