高非線形微細構造光ファイバの実現と応用

Research Abstract

(1)MOF(微細構造ファイバ:Microstructured optical fiber)の安定したファイバ化条件の理論的検討および実験的検証を行い、低軟化高非線形ガラスを用いたMOF作製技術を確立した。また、カルコゲナイドやテルライトファイバ等の低軟化高非線形ガラス光ファイバ用のテーパーファイバ作製装置を作製し、テーパー形状設定を自由度高くしたテーパーMOF作製を可能とした。
(2)As_2S_3ガラスを使ったMOFの作製に成功した。さらに、ファイバのテーパー化にも成功し,2μmのフェムト秒レーザ励起により、1μmから4.5μmを超えるスーパーコンティニューム(SC:Supercontinuum)光の発生に成功した。
(3)上記の新たに開発したカルコゲナイドガラスのラマン応答関数を明らかにしたほか、これまで知られていなかったテルライトガラスおよびフッ化物ガラスのラマン応答関数を明らかにした。
(4)テルライトガラスやフッ化物ガラスをSC媒質として、フィラメンテイションにより導波路構造を形成しSC発生を行った。その結果、テルライトガラスで0.6から6μmにおよぶ広帯域SCの発生に成功した。また、フッ化物ガラスを用いて0.2から8μmにおよぶ5オクターブの超広帯域SCの発生に成功した。フッ化物ガラスでは、3dB帯域幅が1.15から4.76μmであり、20dB帯域幅が0.39から7.4μmであった。このような広帯域なSCの発生は、これまでには観測されていなく、この研究により初めて観測した。このSC光がガラスやファイバで観測されたもののなかで最も広帯域のものであり、フィラメンテイションによるSC発光がSC光発生限界を見極めるために有効であることを明らかにした。
