Research Abstract

特定領域研究「細胞周期制御」は、平成12年度に発足した。計画研究開始にあたる今年度は、必要な設備・機器の購入を中心に各班の研究支援に当たった。
一方、当特定領域研究主催の第1回国際ワークショップを、平成14年1月28-29日に東京大学本郷キャンパス山上会館で開催した。ワークショップのテーマは「G1コントロール」で、細胞の増殖開始制御、分化制御、アポトーシス制御の観点から、この領域の第一線で活躍中の欧州から5名の研究者と国内から7名の研究者を招聘し、講演が行われた。海外の講演者の内訳は、英国から2名、フランスから1名、イタリアから1名、オーストリアから1名であった。延べ150名の参加者があり、活発な討論が行われ、研究の進行状態と残された問題が浮き彫りにされた。特に、複製開始点の活性化機構と足場非依存性細胞周期開始機構に関して日本から注目すべき発表があり、欧州の研究者からはアポトーシスの機構に関する発表が注目された。
これに引き続いて29日、30日と2日かけて、当研究班の進捗状況の報告会を東京大学医学部一号館で開催した。70名近い班員が発表し、いずれも興味を引く研究ぞろいで、各班員にとってこれからの研究の参考になる有用なヒントが得られたとの意見であった。
