Research Abstract	当総括班は、特定領域研究「細胞周期制御」の計画・公募班の研究をより効率的に推進するために、組織された。主たる活動は、領域全体の研究を見渡し、特に進展が期待される研究を促進するために、小機器類購入のサポート、意見・情報の交換を促進するための国際ワークショップと研究進捗報告全体会議の開催である。平成15年度は、第三班の班長である東京大学大学院理学系研究科・東江昭夫のオーガナイズにより、proteolysis in cellular Functionのタイトルで平成15年10月27日,10月28日に東京ガーデンパレスにて開催された。演者には、ユビキチン依存性タンパク分解り機構を研究している国際的にトップクラスの若手研究者を中心に、欧米から7名、日本から9名の研究者を招聘し、最新の研究成果を発表いただいた。当研究班員を含め全国から若手の研究者を中心に150名の参加があり活発な討論がなされた。一方、特に研究班員のなかでの情報・意見の交換の場として重要な役割を果たしていろのが、研究進捗報告全体会議である。12月1日、2日、3日の3日間を費やして、前年と同じく東京大学医学部講堂開催された。計画・公募研究者を問わず、各自10〜15分で約80名の班員の発表が行われ、前年度に引き続き熱心な討論が繰り広げられた。なお、平成16年度の国際ワークショップは、第四班の班長である車京医科歯科大学・鍔田武志の担当で、細胞周期と密接に関連した細胞死と不死化に関するテーマで開催の予定である。
