Research Abstract

環境乱流中の多様な渦の構造と力学及びこれに伴う拡散現象を明らかにするため、1.渦の構造と力学、2.渦の階層構造と拡散現象、3.渦の統計論、4.大気・海洋境界面の乱流、の4課題に分け研究を行った。これまでの成果は以下の通りである。
1.竜巻を伴なうスーパーセルを数値シミュレーションにより再現し、再現された竜巻に似た渦に流入する空気粒子の流跡線に沿った渦度収支を解析した。また、数値シミュレーションで再現されたポーラーロウの解析から、観測では困難だった詳細な渦構造が明らかになったほか、流跡線解析から、渦の中心に流入する空気粒子のエネルギー収支を明らかにした。
2.海洋中で観測される密度場の鉛直微細構造の成因を初期場がDiffusive型成層の場合について、室内実験と数値実験により調べた。PIVによる計測から、鉛直微細構造は縦横比1程度の対流セルが不規則に時間変化する対流層が、鉛直運動の弱い境界面に挟まれる多層構造の対流からなっていることがわかった。これは、シュリーレン法で観察した密度場の様相と整合的である。
3.f-面上の発散準地衡乱流スペクトルの発展を調べた。先ずBatchelorの自由減衰二次元乱流理論を包括する自由減衰乱流の自己相似なスペクトルの表現を得、次に慣性領域における運動エネルギーが水平発散に依存しないスペクトル形を持つことを示した。スペクトルの波数依存性はエンストロフィー散逸(エネルギー流束)で決まるなら波数の-3(-5/3)乗に比例する。更にスペクトル発展を動力学的に定式化し、種々のスペクトル発展を一貫した立場から明快に記述した。
4.大気・海洋間の物質交換速度を正確に評価するため、せん断力の働く風波気液界面を通しての物質交換速度に及ぼすうねりの効果を風波水槽実験により明らかにすることを試みた。その結果、風波気液界面上の風速が同じでも、うねりはスカラー輸送を支配する表面更新乱流要素渦の発生周波数を減少させ、物質交換速度を減少させる効果をもつことが明らかとなった。
