Research Abstract

環境乱流中の多様な渦の構造と力学及びこれに伴う拡散現象を明らかにするため、密接に関連する4つの課題に分けて研究を行った結果、以下の成果が得られた。
1.「環境乱流における渦の力学」
大気中の激しい渦であり、その発生機構・構造が解明されていない竜巻とポーラーロウを数値シミュレーションに基づいて調べた。竜巻・ポーラーロウとも非常に現実的な渦の再現に成功し、竜巻に関しては従来解明されていなかった詳細な発生過程と構造が明らかになった。また、ポーラーロウに関しても、その基本的な発達機構と構造が明らかになった。
2.「環境乱流における渦の階層構造と拡散現象」
室内実験で得られた吸い込み渦に見られる多様な階層構造を明らかにすると共に、二重拡散対流によって生ずる海洋中の階層構造の成因を力学的に明らかにすることに成功した。
3.「環境乱流における渦の統計論」
水平発散の効いたf面及びβ面上の準地衡乱流の特性を明らかにした他、回転系剪断流において過渡的に熱対流により斜交ロールが生ずる機構や絶対渦度零の平均剪断流が維持される機構を解明した。また、海洋レーダーにより対馬海峡に亜中規模渦を発見した他、海面境界過程にかかわるいくつかの問題をも解明した。
4.「大気・海洋境界面の乱流」
風波乱流場の気液界面を通しての物質移動速度および乱流構造に及ぼすうねりの影響を風波乱流水槽を用いた室内実験により明らかにした.その結果,風波気液界面を通しての物質移動速度は10m/s以下の風速域でうねりにより抑制されること、この物質移動速度の減少は風波気液界面下に発生する表面更新渦の出現周波数がうねりにより減少することに起因することが明らかになった.
