| Research Abstract |
ゲノム情報科学の推進を図るために班会議、シンポジウム、講習会等を開催した。平成12年度に催した中で主なものを以下に示す。
・合同班会議&個別班会議(9月23日、静岡)
・第5回バイオインフォマティクス講習会「ヒトゲノム計画とインターネット」(7月24日、東京)
・One-day Symposium on Computational Structural Genomics(11月6日、大阪)
・「ゲノム生物学」と「ゲノム情報科学」交流会(12月8日、東京)
・分子生物学会ワークショップ「ゲノム情報科学の新展開」(12月15日、神戸)
・高次ゲノム情報国際シンポジウム(1月22日〜23日、東京)
・「ゲノムリテラシー講座-アノテーションのインフォマティクス-」(3月8日(木)〜10日、東京)
また、「オントロジー整備委員会」と「ソフトウェア高速化および共有化委員会」との2つの研究推進委員会を設けて、特定領域研究C「ゲノム情報科学」全体で必要と思われる作業やそのための体制作りを行った。
具体的には、「オントロジー整備委員会」ではBio Term Bankと呼ぶ、ゲノムサイエンスを記述する用語の総カタログ作りに着手した。これはゲノム分野のデータ統合と知識発見のリソースとして欠かせないものである。また、「ソフトウェア高速化」委員会では、並列処理の専門家のこの分野への参入およびゲノム研究者との共同研究を促すための会合や勉強会を開催した。さらに、大規模な並列計算機を導入し、平成13年度以降展開する予定のゲノム解析用並列処理技術開発のための基盤を整備した。
