省略の復元に関する理論的・実証的研究-経験科学としての生成文法を目指して

Research Abstract

本研究の目的は、(i)それぞれの研究者が熟知している言語において厳密な方法でsurface anaphoraである省略表現を同定し、(ii)それらのsurface anaphoraに関して、束縛変項解釈やスコープ解釈に関する理論の予測を検証し、(iii)その結果に基づいて、より説明力の優れた文法理論を構築すること、である。それぞれの言語には様々な省略構文があり、さらに、一見同じ構文に見える場合でも、条件の付加によってdeep anaphoraとsurface anaphoraの区別ができる事例もある。したがって、束縛変項解釈やスコープ解釈の理論を省略構文に適用するためには、非常に多くの準備作業と多岐にわたる予測の検証が必要である。それらをできるだけ網羅的・体系的に調査するために、省略構文に重点的にかかわってきた研究者を招いて共同研究を行っている。
今年度の研究では、まず、研究代表者・研究分担者・海外共同研究者・計8人の研究者のこれまでの研究成果とそれによって得られた知識を交換し、確認した上で共有することを目標とした。電子メールなどの手段も使いながら議論を重ね、12月の全体打ち合わせ会において、1つ1つの提案について綿密な討議を行った。その結果に基づいて、各自がお互いの提案についての批評を行い、さらに議論を続けているところである。
今後は、日本語に基づく提案を英語に、英語に基づく提案を日本語に適用するための方法について話し合いを続けながら、その結果を検証し、普遍文法の解明を目指していく。
