Research Abstract |
The purpose of this research is to clarify and elaborate the concept of "Human Security" which appears recently in international society. Our approach is multi-dimensional, that is, we did this research comparing this concept with traditional theories of "States Security" and looking into relations of this concept with State, domestic society and international society. Our ultimate goal is to make policy proposals toward international and national institutionalization of "Human Security" Each member of our research group was assigned to a particular research topic, and made presentation on this topic at our study meetings. Topics which had been discussed at the meetings are, for examples, various conceptualization of "Human Security", measures to institutionalize this concept in international society, extent to which this concept have been reflected in the domestic policies especially in Germany and Japan, and its relation with the concept of nationalism. In our final report, we can show that the concept of "Human Security", leads to formation of certain international and national policies, and also to gradual institutionalization of this concept. We can also show that some events and practices which had been already seen can be better examined with reference to this concept. It means that this concept is useful and has further potentials and, therefore, each members of this research group will continue to study this concept in each fields of their majors.
