Research Abstract	昨年、アカゲザル由来のヘルペスBウイルス(BV)E2490株のUS領域の塩基配列を決定したのに続き(JV,2002;#AB074432)、UL領域の塩基配列(106,873bp)を決定するに至った(Arch Virol, in press;#AB096160)。 BVのUL領域は,HSV(1型:107,589bp,2型:108,356bp)よりやや短く,GC%は72.9%だった。第3コドンのGCバイアスは、SA8に準じて強かった。各種シグナルから推測されるORFはUL1-56とUL26.5、UL49.5の58個を認め,HSVとまったくパラレルと考えられた。mRNA転写セットもHSVと同一であり、その結果、USおよびULのユニーク領域については、BVとHSVとではUS3-7の転写セットが異なる(HSVではUS3/4とUS5/6/7なのに対し、BVではUS3/4/5とUS6/7である)点を除いて完全に一致していることが明らかになった。塩基配列から類推される各ORFの相同性をみると、80%以上の高い相同性を持つタンパクは6つ(UL5,15,18,19,28,29)、逆に45%以下の低いタンパクは7つ(UL11,42,43,44,49,49.5,56)であった。現在、相同性の低いタンパクを中心に、BV特有の病原性および抗ヘルペスウイルス薬に対する耐性に関する研究を国際共同研究として推し進めている。
