Research Abstract |
Diameter of afferent arterioles of spontaneous hypertensive rats (SHR) was larger than that of normal control rats (WKY). Balnidipine, a calcium antagonist dilated both afferent and efferent arterioles contrary to the previous reports in a dose-dependent manner in any of those hypertensive, diabetic and normal rats. Erythrocyte velocity within i> glomerular capillaries of diabetic rats was faster than that of WKY rats for the first time. Angiotensin II, which elevates blood pressure increased average erythrocyte velocity within glomerular capillaries in a dose-dependent manner in normal control rats.
