| Research Abstract |
本研究は,巨大地震の発生様式を解明し,かつ地震に対する備えが十分でない地域における地震危険度評価への適応を試みることを目的とし,モンゴルをテストフィールドとして実施している.
本年度はその初年度に当たるため,9月にモンゴル北西部のBulnay断層地域と南西部のGobi-Altai断層地域の現地予察を行い,断層地形の保存状況,既存調査資料の多寡等を考慮し,Bulnay断層を対象とすることとした.
研究の手順として,先ずリモートセンシング技術等を用いて活断層の詳細マッピングを行うこととし,日米共同プロジェクトであるASTER衛星によるテスト画像データの入手とその解析手法の検討を行った.ASTER衛星画像は分解能が高く,今後の研究に大いに有益であると判断し,本研究の対象とする地域全域のデータを入手する手はずを整えた.
衛星画像に加え,航空写真判読による活断層図を作成することとし,平成13年2月にモンゴルに行き,縮尺約4万分の1の航空写真を入手すると共に,カウンターパートであるモンゴル工科大学Bayasgalan教授の有するデータとあわせ,縮尺10万分の1の活断層図を作成した.
この活断層図は,地震危険度評画に不可欠な活断層のセグメンテーションの基礎になると共に,次年度以降の詳細調査の計画立案に用いられる.
本年度の研究発表に関しては,研究の初年度に当たるため,本研究開始以前の準備段階で得た知見と,本研究推進のための技術的課題に関する研究成果を公表した.
