Research Abstract |
In this study we mainly studied the following to points: 1. Molecular phylogenetic study of Dipterocarpaceae. 2. Estimation of gene diversity and population structures in Dipterocarps in Malay peninsula and manglove natural populations. As for the molecular phylogenetic study it was found that present results were essentially the same as those obtained in our previous works(Kajita et al 1995, Kamiya 1996). The amount of gene diversity in natural populations of Shorea species was rather low (pai=0.002) and the degree of population differentiation was low(Fst=0.1). On the other hand, populations of two geographical regions, Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean, were clearly differentiated(Fst=0.8), and most of genetic variations was existent between populations.
