| Research Abstract |
本研究では次の関連する2つの問題を主に研究した。1つは平面へのグラフの直線埋め込み問題と平面でのグラフの実現問題である。これは「Geometric Graph Theory」と命名された新しい分野の重要な問題である。平面上の任意に指定された点集合上に、グラフが直線埋め込みできるかのはどんなときか、またできるときにはその埋め込みを求める良いアルゴリズムがあるか、などについて研究する。
もう1つは平面上の2色点集合の平衡分割問題である。これは平面上に与えられた赤点と白点を、一定の比率で含むk個の部分集合に分割する問題である。同じ個数への分解とか、特別な場合には解決したが、個数が同じでない場合など未解決の重要問題がありこれを研究としたい。なお、この問題は私たち2人により提案された問題であり、また世界的に強い関心のもたれている分野である。
以上の2つの研究課題に対して、発表論文に見られるように十分な研究成果が得られた。もちろん今後に持ち越された課題も多いが、主要な結果はSurvey論文"Discrete Geometry on Red and Blue Points in the Plane-A Surveyにも記載されている。
