Research Abstract |
A feasibility study of electronic tap changers with active filtering function has been made. The simulation and the basic experiments gave the following results: (a) Safety operations that do not cause over voltages and short-circuit currents can be realized by the proposed commutations of electronic switches, (b) The third harmonic component contained in power line voltages can be decreased less than 1 %of the fundamental voltage by the proposed method controlling so that output pulse areas are proportional to those of the reference sinusoidal wave, and (c) To cancel the large amount of third harmonics requires large tap-voltages and it results to increase in capacities of electronic switches. The recent development of high voltage transistors will make the proposed devices put into practical use.
