Research Abstract

In order to clarify the relationship between expression of male sterility and phytohormone, the treatment of phytohormone (GA_3 IAA, AbA, iPAde, t-Z) and phytohormone biosynthesis inhibitor was performed in C. japonica male sterility and normal one. Moreover, the endogenous hormone level of male sterility and normal was measured seasonally. Normal pollen was formed in the normal male flowers which treated with a phytohormone and phytohormone biosynthesis inhibitor. They did not have an effect in expression of male sterility. The ethylene productivity on remarkably rose, when the microspore of the male sterility reached the quartet stage. The cytokinin (activity type t-zr) mainly contained in a male flower are produced in early stage in male sterility flower. From this fact, it was suggested that the ethylene and cytokinin caused the expression of the male sterility.
