Research Abstract |
1) To elucidate reflux esophagitis following total gastrectomy in rats, from the standpoints of cell proliferation and apoptosis as well as macroscopic and histological findings. In results, reflux esophagitis was more frequently and extensively observed in Billroth II anastomosis. BrdU labeling index was increased in esophagitis, while apoptotic index did not change. Trypsin plays an important role in the development of reflux esophagitis after total gastrectomy. 2) To elucidate endoscopic findings and pH monitoring in esophagitis patients following gastrectomy. In results, endoscopic findings was not always correlated with symptoms. The common reflux patterns were alkaline reflux after total gastrectomy, while they were alkaline and acid reflux in subtotal gastrectomy. Barret's esophagus was not observed in patients with esophagitis. 3) To elucidate cell proliferation and expression of Eicosanoid in the esophageal specimen of patients with esophagitis. In results, Ki-67 labeling index was not correlated with esophagitis. Expression rate of Eicosanoid in tissue was almost same between patients with esophagitis and those without esophagitis
