Research Abstract |
In this project, investigators tried to evaluate the practices of Information Technology (IT) Education in Japan. As a tool for measurement, they selected two kinds of research method. They were Metaphor Method and Picture Projection one, which were originally developed for researches in psychology and sociology. They used those methods to measure children's attitude toward media such as computers and Internet. It is in relation to 3 main objectives in IT Education. um and teaching strategies for IT Education. In the second, investigators planed and executed the same research to the students in Okayama Prefecture to clarify their development of the attitude toward media. In addition, they revisited the school and interviewed the School IT Leader about the improvement of the practices of IT Education. Data say that students in the school whose curriculum for IT Education is coordinated systematically tend to have ambivalent feeling toward computers and Internet. Considering results of the research, Investigators make a proposal for the desirable development of the practices of IT Education. 4 critical points are included in the proposal. They are as follows; -Considering the meaning and limitation of the usage of IT in schools -Deliberating individual differences among students as to their access to IT -Being conscious of the gap between children' s' access to media and their attachment to them -Thinking it significant to teach students not only merits but also demerits of information-oriented society Less
