| Research Abstract |
The present study assessed the ffects of music that is accompanied by vibration stimulus on biosocial rhythms of daily living of elderly people. Six subjects were given music and vibration and six were control subjects. All subjects were resident of nursing home in Japan and were low activity level. Music and vibration were given three times per week for two months by using Bodysonic (Pioneer, Relactive-l). Japanese nostalgic popular song was used. The wrist activity was recorded during one week pre and post experimental session by using Actiwatch (Mini-Mitter Co.Inc). Questionnaire to determine biosocial rhythms of daily living and Life Satisfaction Index were used for subjective evaluation. Subjects who were given music and vibration increased the amount of wrist activity and control subjects had no significant increase. Subjective evaluation exhibited increase in score that means well adaptation to daily living.
