Research Abstract |
Fabrication of nanoporous metals with tunable pore/ligament size and low cost is very important for the improvement of energy storage. In our work, we use a dealloying method to fabricate large-scale nanoporous Ni and NiCu metarials. The pore size of these nanoporous metals is tuned by controlling the dealloying conditions and thermal annealing conditions after dealloying. Porous Ni and NiCu with pore size from 10 nm to several micrometers have been obtained. When used as a free-standing electrochemical supercapacitor electrode, ith in situ formed metal oxides/hydroxides, the nanoporous hybrid materials show high area specific capacitance. The nanoporous metals have also been used as both catalyst and substrates for the growth of graphene by a chemical vapor deposition method. After removal of the metal substrates, nanoporous graphenen was also obtained, which shows potential applications in various energy-related areas.
