Research Abstract |
Research on sustainable low-carbon society has attracted attention recent years. However, much work appeared to be focused on the source of low carbon, i. e. new renewable energy production and related industries. In this year, we investigated the governmental policies, public responses and marketing to track the process of realizing industrialization ofthose environmental and renewable energy technologies. Those studies mainly include : (1) Having analyzed energy polices of major countries, a new social development model is provided, in which the strategies fōr low-carbon society should design actionable policies to address low-carbonization of society input and output, and change current patterns of energy use, consumer habits, technology and infrastructure. It is available to choose the way of realization of sustainable low-carbon sōciety. (2) We reviewed the present research status of the typical advanced technologies, including dye-sensitized solar cells, proton exchange membrane fuel cells, LEDs, biodiesel and artificial photosynthesis etc., the application and further development prospects are also given. This work provides not only the basis fōr the fōture policy practice but also external circumstances analysis of new energy industry development. (3) A case-study approach has been used in our research. We introduced the novel technology of tubular reaction for producing biodiesel from waste oils and fats on the typical industrialization case in Kunshan, China. The case provides a viable development path for waste oil to produce biodiesel and worth reference to waste oils and fats recycling and reuse. Based on those studies, one paper is accepted : "A promising way of resource utilization in china : converting waste oils and fats to biodiesel". Another paper is in preparation.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
According to the proposed plan, some research has been finished as scheduted. As a result of language barriers, optimized adjustment to survey methods is proposed.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Further work will be given to much more case studies. Trough case studies, we are expecting to interpret the relationship between the industry of renewable energy and environmental technology and the sustainabie development of low-carbon society, and find what role do the government acts and policies play? The main ncontents are as folloWing : (1) A zero-emission solution for Transportation : The development of fuel cell vehicles and its commercial prospects in large scale use―taking Japan for example ; (2) Study on the transition to low carbon energy in UK from the point of view of UK's electricity market reform ; (3) Solar energy application on buildings : Discussion on the development trend of the building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system and prediction for the application prospect of dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC).
