Research Abstract

村田は、Gridコンピューティングを実現するための、新しいネットワーク基盤技術の一つとして、アクティブキュー管理機構に関する研究を行った。本研究では、多変量解析手法を用いることにより、膨大な数のシミュレーション結果を統計的に処理し、REDルータの制御パラメータがその性能にどのような影響を与えるかを定量的に明らかにした。
西原は、ギガビットネットワークで接続されたいくつかのスーパーコンピュータ設備を用いて世界最大級の大規模シミュレーションにセキュリティを考慮したGrid技術を適応し、先端的ネットワーク要素技術を用いた高度アプリケーションを実現した。
森は、世界最高加速電圧を誇る大阪大学超高圧電子顕微鏡を対象として取り上げ、この電子顕微鏡の遠隔操作システム、特に動画像転送の最適化についての研究を行った。Gridの入り口として大量のデータを獲得する観測装置である超高圧電子顕微鏡を組み込み、シームレスに解析まで行えるシステムを構築した。
塚本は、Grid技術を用いた部分空間統合モデルを確立し、大規模仮想空間運用システムとして実際に応用することで、Grid上でのデータ管理基盤技術を確立し、その有効性を示した。
下條、秋山、伊達、加藤は大阪大学のスーパーコンピュータと東北大学の並列コンピュータをグリッド基盤技術であるglobusで接続することに成功し、これまで行えなかった大規模なナノスケールシミュレーションを行うことができた。そのための動的スケジューリングシステムを開発した。また、グリッドコンピューティングのためのアクティブキュー管理機構に関する研究を行った。電子顕微鏡、MEGなどを広域グリッド環境上で複数のスーパーコンピュータを協調利用する技術、および可視化システムや観測装置そのものをGridに結合するための技術の高度化に焦点をおいた研究開発を行うとともに、次年度にむけた新たに必要とされる機能の洗い出しを行った。
