Research Abstract	1.臨床応用に用いて、骨髄由来の自己間葉系幹細胞の分化増殖のメカニズムと病変部位における効果が大型動物で解明した。 2.この自己組織再生誘導型バイオ人工臓器は血管、神経、腸管、気管、内耳、喉頭として欠損部位を形態的にも機能的に再生することがビーグル犬やサルなど大型動物で確かめられた。 3.自己幹細胞による組織再構築のメカニズムとしては、組織再生の足場となる細胞外マトリックスの役割が重要であり、細胞の分化誘導をつかさどるsignal moleculeは局所における自己の分泌機能(この多くは誘走してくる白血球系の細胞による)が大きく関与している可能性が強く示唆された。 4.全ての臓器が再生医学の手法で再構築できるわけではないが、なかでも末梢神経や結合織は、我々の開発したin situ Tissue Engineeringの手法で再生させうることが証明された。 5.これらのうち人工気管、人工神経は京都大学医学部附属病院の倫理委員会の審査を経て、2002年より既に患者に使用されている。
