Research Abstract	志村多様体の数論的研究の最も重要な応用は非可換類体論の相互法則の確立である。この研究課題ではこの従来からの視点に加え、代数的整数論への直接的応用を重視した研究も行っている。この視点の成果として、代数体の整数論の古典的難問として知られるLeopoldt予想と非可換類体論との予期しない関係を昨年度に報告した。その関係とは、総実代数体の場合に肥田晴三氏(UCLA)によるnearly ordinaryヘッケ環を考察すると、特別な場合の接空間の決定と、その体におけるLeopoldt予想が同値になると言うものである。今年度はこの視点がさらに発展を遂げた。Nearly ordinaryヘツケ環はMazurの視点によればガロア表現の普遍変形環になるべきであり、実際二次元表現のときはWilesや研究代表者の仕事により多くの場合に正しいが、さらに研究代表者はこの変形環はW.Thurstonによる三次元双曲多様体の標準表現の変形理論の数論での類似になっていることに気づいた。この視点は、代数的整数論と実3次元多様体の中の絡み目理論に類似があるという金沢大学の森下昌紀氏の視点とも深く関係する。[3]はごく最近の発展を報告したものであるが、研究は分野を超えた広がりを見せつつある。さらに、この関係については2002年9月にパリ13大学で行われた「数論と幾何学における分岐」、2003年3月にジョンズ・ホプキンス大学においておこなわれた「素数と結び目」などの国際研究集会で発表した。また、研究代表者は2002年5月から6月まで一ヶ月半ほどパリ第7大学、9月にパリ13大学に招聘され、M.F.Vigneras(パリ第7大学)、J.P.Labesse(パリ第7大学)、M.Harris(パリ第7大学)、J.Tilouine(パリ第13大学)などと研究交流を行った。この国際研究交流のために研究費の一部が使われた。
