In this research, to realize the multimedia-integrated switching scheme in the Holonic optical information network, we established the following three objectives, and studied for these purposes. 1.Under the waveband routing network with both WDM and TDM technologies, waveband path design method which is robust to the variation of traffic demand must be established. 2.As for the hardware design of the buffer management scheme to guarantee the QoS, functional extension to the variable length packet arrival and multiple output ports sharing a buffer memory, and its higher speed operation must be established. 3.Mobile agent migration discipline in the logical network by connecting agent gateways and its prototype network must be established. As for 1., we proposed new path design method which introduces the concept of the bandwidth unit Full Unit and Half Unit and enables the bandwidth change of the waveband paths flexibly according to the demand variation and confirmed its effectiveness th

rough the performance evaluation. As for 2., We designed the hardware of the buffer management scheme to differentiate each flow and improve the QoS, which assigns each flow the ideally allocated buffer volume, discards arrival packets based on the Push-out mechanism, and associates them with the packet transfer scheduling. Also, we programmed it by the hardware description language, VHDL and synthesized it actually. As a result, we obtained the specification of about 135MHz behavior and 47K gates by using 0.18 μm CMOS technology. Even if very short control packets continuously arrives at the target buffer, our specification can attain the throughput of 11.5Gbps. As. for 3., we proposed the mobile agent migration and replication discipline to realize the fairness of the unfinished work per each job. This is applied to the network environment where mobile agent of a certain job concurrently migrates making its replication on the agent-gateway logical network to control the Holonic optical information network. This prototype is actually constructed by the java language. Less
