Research Abstract |
Initially we aimed to develop the system using the separation of a measurement system and a machining system in dental CAD/CAM system. The network data system, especially the data size and the transaction of transmitting time between a conventional laser digitizer and an industrial machining machine was examined. The measured data size of this system was 1.2MB, which had too much futility for network transmission. After these 3 dimensional point data was reconstructed to Spline surface data, we could reduce the data size to an average of 349.9 KB. Although the PHS handy phone system was adopted because of little restriction in an installation, it took about 5 minutes to perform the check on a computer screen after digitizing. We therefore, subsequently developed a speedy and compact digitizing system. We previously developed the system using a point laser displacement meter. This measurement system had to collect every point on the die surface even if the consequently highly precise measurement can be performed. We therefore developed a trial product of compact digitizer using a CCD camera and line laser. As a result, we could reduce the measuring time to fewer 3 minutes, and furthermore whole study model could be measured practically. Since some part of the transformed surface data from 3 dimensional point data were indistinct by the process of the optimization, we will continue to improve the algorithm of this optimization process.
