Research Abstract

The first survey : Aug 3, 〜Aug 7, 2001 Survey was done at the place near Palangkaraya in Central Kalimantan. Twenty seven anti-malaria plants were collected. The determination of species was done by the researchers of LIPI.
The second survey : Dec 14, 〜Dec 23, 2002 Survey was done at the place near Palembang and Lampung in South Sumatera. Eveven plants were collected.
Anti Babesia compounds were isolated from the plants according to the bioassay of Babesia gibsoni. Phyllanthus niruri : Pentahydroxyxanthon, Ellagic acid glucopyranoside, Arcangelisia flava : Berberine, 20-Hydroxy ecdisone Peronema canescens : Peronemin A3, Quercetin glucopyranoside Garcinia celebica : Catechine, Catechine dimer Shorea balangeran : Vaticanol A, B, G Garacinia rigida : Mangostin Curcuma zedoaria : Zedoalactone B, C Cinnamomum sintoc : 1-allyl-3,4-dimethyl benzene, 1-allyl-3,5-dimethoxy phenol, euqenol, innamaldehyde, cinnamic acid, cinnamyl alcohol, 3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxy phenyl)-propenal, vanillin, sitosterol, 2,3-Bis-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-benzyl)-butane-1,4-diol)
Berberin from A-flava and mangostin from G-rigida showed the high anti-malaria adtizities. These two plants are effutive, as medical plants.
