Research Abstract |
As a result of field survey, questionnaires to academies and literature review, we figured out the structure and the real picture of practices of education for citizenship in French school education. We realized that France introduces various approaches of namely citizenship education in order not only for national and regional awareness and stress for cultural and linguistic identity in time with European unification, but also for solution for collapses of social order and social inferiority as many advanced countries face. By observing class activities and interviewing to staffs in elementally schools, colleges and Lycee, we grasped each activity and found their problems of cross-curricular study, civic education, class activity, school project, some of which are collaboration with local community and so on. We have published the details of our field surveys in two volumes of research reports. We also presented these outcomes in the annual meetings of, the Japanese Society of Curriculum Studies (Takasuke Muto and Aashiro Arai-Curriculum Development of Citizenship Education in France-July 6, 2003), the Japanese Society of Comparative Education (Takasuke Muto and Aashiro Arai-Towards International Comparison of School Guidance and Values Education - Japan, US, UK, France and Germany-June 29, 2002) and Societe franco-japonaise des Sciences de l'Education (Maki Yamada, Noriko Suzuki and Takasuke Muto-Citizenship Education in Franc with focus on partnership between school and local community. Finally we published the final report of this project including six pieces of thesis and appendixes.
