| Research Abstract |
凝縮型階層的分類法はクラスター分析の中でも最も良く使われる一連の手法の総称である。凝縮型階層的分類法による分類結果は樹形図で表すことができ、直感的で分かりやすい解釈が可能であるという特徴を持っている。一方、一連の手法といいながらも、その性質は全くと言っていいほど異なり、同一のデータを分析しても、選択する手法により分類結果が大きく異なることが良くある。ここで問題となるのが手法の選択であるが、現在、この手法の選択に関して明確な基準は与えられていない。実際、すべてのデータや分析意図にふさわしい手法が存在するわけではなく、分析者の主観によって手法が選択されている場合も間々見られる。
上述のような現状を踏まえ、本年度は凝縮型階層的分類法の性質である"space distortion"、"monotonicity"、"structure"に着目し、これらに関する凝縮型階層的分類法の許容性と凝縮型階層的分類法を決定するパラメータとの関係に関する新たな定理を与えた。その成果は、A. Takeuchi, H. Yadohisa and K. Inada "Measures for the structure of clustering and admissibilities of its algorithm" Measurement and Multivariate Analysis, Springer-Verlag, Tokyo, 261-268 (2002)として発表している。また、この研究と関連して、Functionalデータの分類法に関する新たな手法を提案した。その成果は、S. Tokushige, K. Inada and H. Yadohisa "Dissimilarity and related methods for functional data" Journal of the Japanese Society of Computational Statistics (2002)(印刷中)とS. Tokushige, K. Inada and H.Yadohisa "Fuzzy k-means clustering for functional data" Proceedings of the 4th Conference of Asian Regional Section of the International Association for Statistical Computingにおいて発表している。
