Research Abstract |
In the present research project, Masao Ninomiya who is the head investigator of the project proposed, in collaboration with Sir Holger B.Nielsen (Professor, Niels Bore Institute, University of Copenhagen), a new string field theory. This theory has as constituents the right- and left-moving modes of the string which can describe creation and annihilation of the strings. While studying the above written the new string field theory, we noticed that there exists only the light-cone string field theory by Kaku-Kikkawa because by using the light-cone gauge, they disregard negative energy modes. This is exactly equivalent problem to that of the field theory. In the latter, it is known as a longstanding unsolved problem in the 2nd quantization theory : In the fermion theory the vacuum is a so called "Dirac Sea" in which all the negative energy states are filled, one for each according to Pauli's exclusion principle. On the other hand, no one has succeeded to construct "negative energy sea (Dir

ac Sea) for bosons. We succeeded to construct a method how to construct boson Dirac Sea. One may say that this new quantization method treats boson and fermion completely parallel. Furthermore, with a new collaboration Dr.Yoshinobu Habara, our formulation is extended to a super symmetric theory. Our original motivation to develop such a new quantization formalism is to apply into string theory without discarding negative energy models of bosonic strings, and seek new string field theory that is under development. Inspired by the data by WMAP of the cosmic background radiation etc, the head investigator Ninomiya in collaboration with the investigator H.Kawai et al. constructed from the point of view of the string theory so called "pre-bigbang theory" which is considered to describe the very early universe till 10^<-44> seconds from the birth our universe. Our theory is constructed by using only the basic properties of the string theory such as existences of the minimal length, the maximal temperature (Hagedorn temperature) and one assumption that there exists the minimal curvature. By estimating the entropy our universe has repeated the big bang and then big crunch. Our calculation shows that our present universe is 35th-45th generations after the birth and that it is in the inflation era. The novel feature of our model is that in order to get inflationary expansion, we do not need to introduce the artificial and fictitious boson called the inflation contrary to the usual standard cosmological models.
