Research Abstract |
Under the micro-gravity environment, pure and high performance materials expected to be manufactured. It is possible to establish under-cooled condition for high temperature melted material levitated in space. The pure and high performance material is expected to be manufactured from the under-cooled condition. The purpose of the present study is to establish the technology of the high power ultrasonic wave system to levitate and control the high temperature melted material in space under the micro-gravity environment. From the results of the present study, it is confirmed that the simulated high temperature melted can be hold in a certain position in space by the ultrasonic standing wave. It is also clarified that the physical properties such as surface tension and viscosity can be measured with the present high power ultrasonic wave system. Furthermore, it is clarified that the temperature transient of the malted material can be established from above the melting temperature to below the melting temperature.
