Research Abstract |
It is known that there is a zone of recirculation and zone of stasis in the blood flow of the origin of the arteria carotis interna. We evaluated whether these hemodynamic changes were observable by MRI. It was examined with time-of-flight (TOF), hydrography, and phase contrast (PC) and tagging as a scanning sequence of the MRI. TOF showed eddy flow but distortion of the image could not be ignored. With hydrography the existence of a zone of stasis could be observed. PC and tagging could observe the direction and speed of the blood flow in the intravascular small space. It is considered that related evaluation between the vascular lesion and the hemodynamics will be possible in the future with the use of additional examinations.
