Research Abstract |
An HTML-based teaching file had been constructed to enrich and make efficient the education for image diagnosis. In this research, the teaching file system was improved in the following way. 1. Installation of an intermediate PC. To inprove the security from the attack via internet., intermediate PC was installed between the teaching- file server and the medical image server. Medical images in the image server were imported into intermediate PC via online by DICOM query/retrieve protocols. These images could be searched by keywords, such as ID, patient name, study date, imaging modalities. Once the images had been obtained, attached patients' information was eliminated and converted into TIFF or JPEG format, then exported to the information of the patients. 2. Evaluation of the LCD monitors. Some 8-bit grayscale images which were used in the teaching file proposed insufficient quality when displayed in some LCD monitor of the notebook PCs. We evaluated the quality of several public welfare LCD, Apple^<TM> and Samsung^<TM> products presented enough quality for these images. 4. Consideration of the scanning image quality. To make this teaching file more valuable, improvement of compressed image quality is needed, Therefore, inprovement of original scanned is under consideration. 3. Introduction of a movie file into teaching file. Quality of ultrasound movie image files were evaluated. The best quality was obtained when the DV camera was connected to the ultrasound machine with s-video cable, and exported to PC with MPEG-2 format. However, as the file size was too huge to browse by online, application of MPEG-1 format and/or Sorenson compression is under consideration.
