Research Abstract |
We could make a poly lactic acid (PLLA) sheet having a pore by dissolving with a solvent. Furthermore, we could adhere hydroxyapatite (HA) powder on the surface of the PLLA by a solvent A bicortical bone defect in the tibia of the rat was made. The bone defect was covered with PLLA sheet or PLLA sheet adhering HA powder. The rats were killed at 1,2 and 4 weeks after surgery. The tibia was excised with surrounding tissue. Sections were prepared and were stained with hematoxylin-eosin for light microscopy. Consequently, we found that the defect was restored to nealy original condition. In the case of PLLA sheet adhering HA powder, the result was the same of PLLA sheet. A few inflammatory reaction was observed during the experimental periods. PLLA was not resorbed at four weeks after implantation In conclusion, we found that PLLA sheet functioned effectively as a GBR membrane
