| Research Abstract |
本研究では、鉄などの磁性金属や金や銅などの非磁性金属をトポロジカル絶縁体の表面に微量蒸着し、表面および金属原子がインターカレートされた界面構造および表面電子状態を解明することを目的としている。平成25年度は、広島大学放射光科学研究センター(HiSOR)において放射光励起の高分解能角度分解光電子分光測定を実施し、トポロジカル絶縁体Bi_2Se_3およびTIBiSe_2の内殻準位の光電子回折パターンを測定した。低エネルギー領域ではエネルギー分解能が高く、表面およびバルク由来のピークの分離が容易で、界面構造の解析に有効であることが分かった。TIBiSe_2については、SPring-8における内殻準位測定、低温STM測定を含む共著論文を発表した。スイス放射光実験施設では高い励起光エネルギーを用いてBi_2Se_3およびTlBiSe_2の光電子回折実験を実施した。広い波数空間での回折パターンが観測できたが・表面およびバルク由来のピークの分離は難しく、HiSORの低エネルギー励起光のデーターとあわせて検討が必要である。つくば国際会議場で開催されたACSIN-12(第12回原子制御表面・界面・ナノ構造国際会議) & ICSPM21(第21回プローブ顕微鏡コロキウム)に出席し、「Investigation of the Electronic and Geometric Structure of Au deposited on the Topological Insulator Bi_2Se_3」という題目で発表を行った。実験と平行して、バンド計算コード(elkおよびopenMXコード)および光電子回折パターンを計算するソフトを整備した。これによりトポロジカル絶縁体のバンド構造、フェルミ面、光電子回折パターンを自ら理論的に計算できるようになった。こうした理論計算は実験結果を解析するために必要不可欠である。

Reason
低温STMを用いた実験を予定していたが、装置の不具合のため予定が延期となっている。金および銀の蒸着源が放射光ビームタイム中に動作せず、インターカレートした光電子回折パターンが取得できていない。

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
今後、スイス放射光実験施設およびSPring-8における放射光実験については、ビームタイムが取りづらい状況である。広島大学の放射光実験施設における低エネルギー励起光を用いた高分解能角度分解光電子分光測定、低温STMを用いた実空間像の観察、光電子回折パターンを解析する理論計算などを推進し、継続的に研究成果があげられるようにする。
