Research Abstract |
Motivation and Objective : Ulcerative colitis (UC), an inflammatory and intractable disease in colon area, affects millions of patients worldwide. Moreover, UC increases the risk of the development of colitis-associated colon cancer (CAC). Current anticancer drugs are insufficient bioavailability and low tumor targeting. Furthermore, patients treated with such chemotherapeutic agents suffer from severe side effect such as mucositis and diarrhea, which limits the dose intensification and compromises efficiency. The objective in this study : we have developed a novel and extremely safe oral nanotherapeutics using redox nanonoparticle (RNP) for treatment CAC. Experimental results : - I successfully prepared redox polymer and redox nanoparticle RNP - The accumulation of RNP in gastrointestinal tract was investigated - The uptake of RNP in normal epithelial cells and cancer cells was also investigated - Protective effect of RNP in colitis associated colon cancer (CAC) model mice was confirmed - Anticancer effect of free drinking RNP in CAC was also confirmed In conclusion : We have successfully developed an effective and safe redox nanoparticle for treatment of colon cancer. Future work : - We are preparing manuscript for publication of this study. - We try to apply this redox nanoparticle for clinical trial for treatment of UC and CAC.

The plan in this study is going well. We are preparing the manuscript for publication. - We attended several conferences and international conferences, and won awards for the best presentations, - In addition, we also collaborate with other medical doctors, and pharmarceutist to clearly investigate the therapeutic effect of this redox nanoparticle, and trying for clinical trial.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The plan in this study is going well. However, to accomplish this study, we are planning carry out the additional experiments as follows : - Toxicity and side effects of long-term administration of RNP should be evaluated. In order to publish in high quality journal and use for clinical trial, the toxicity and side effects of materials are one of the most important criteria. - In addition, the stability of this nanoparticle has to be confirmed. After complete the experiments and obtain the suitable data, we will try to submit this study to a high quality journal.
