Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、1. プラスチック光ファイバ(POF)のブリルアン散乱特性の測定、2. POFを用いた分布測定システムの構築、3. POFを用いた分布測定システム高性能化を行うことを目的としている。平成26年度には、2について検討した。具体的には、(1)POFを用いた歪と温度の分布測定の実証、(2)低歪依存高感度温度センサへの応用のためのブリルアン周波数シフトホッピングの観測、また、(3)POFを用いた分布測定系の簡素化。
(1)ブリルアン光相関領域反射計(BOCDR)を用いてcmオーダの高空間分解能での歪・温度分布測定を実証し、その性能の限界について議論を行った。
(2)我々はブリルアン利得スペクトルの大きな歪に対する依存性を調査し、約10%以上の歪を印加した際の散乱光パワーの急激な減少を観測したが、これに対する定量的説明は困難であった。そこで、最大60%の巨大な歪に対するPOF中のBGSの依存性を詳細に調査し、「ブリルアン周波数シフト(BFS)ホッピング現象」の存在、および、この現象により散乱光パワーの減衰が説明できることを明らかにした。また、巨大歪を印加し塑性変形させたPOF中のブリルアン散乱には、従来よりも歪に依存しにくく高精度な温度センサへの応用可能性があることを示した。
(3)BOCDRは光ファイバ中のブリルアン散乱を用いた歪・温度分布計測手法の中でも 実験系が最も簡便であるが、より簡便になればより利便性が高まる。そこで、我々は、フレネル反射光を参照光として利用することで独立した参照光路をもたない、より簡便なBOCDRを提案した後、それをPOFに適用し分布測定を実証した。

Reason

当初の目的であったプラスチック光ファイバ(POF)中のブリルアン散乱を用いた歪と温度の分布測定に成功した。また、大歪印加により、ブリルアン周波数シフトが急激に高周波数側にシフトする現象の観測に成功した。さらに、当初の目的にはなかったPOFを用いた分布測定系の簡素化にも成功した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

26年度の研究成果を踏まえ、プラスチック光ファイバ(POF)を用いた分布測定システムの高性能化を行う予定である。具体的には、(1) 偏波状況の平均化による観測信号の安定化、(2) メモリ効果が発現する数10%の歪を印加した時のメモリ効果の確認、(3) 空間分解能や測定レンジ測定速度など、各種性能の向上、(4) シリカ単一モード光ファイバを用いた既存技術との本質的な違い(理論的な性能限界など)の解明を目指す。また、POF中のブリルアン散乱信号の圧力依存性の調査も行う。
