Research Abstract |
In this year, I have finished two research projects : 1. To transfer host-guest chemistry from solution into solid-state, I have synthesized a discrete molecular capsules by complexation of cis-[Ru^<III>Cl_2 (cyclen)] Cl and tris (3-pyridyl) triazine ligand. The X-ray analysis revealed that Ru-capsule is isostrucutral to the capsule subunit of Co_6L_4 networked capsules. Due to the cavity equivalency, host-guest chemistry of Ru-capsule in solution can be transferred into a crystalline state by using networked Co-capsules, and vice versa. Due to the similar dynamic behaviors, both capsules are able to isolate the guest molecules from external environment and mediate their chemical and physical properties, such as suppression of D-A dimerization of cyclopentadiene and suppression of volatility of cyclopentane and THF. 2. Although acrylate esters are very important and widely used industrial reagents for produce of water-absorbing resin and coat materials, some special cares are need to preserve them, such as addition of stabilizer and protected from light, heat and moisture. To solve these problems, I have introduced these reactive acrylate esters into networked capsules in a single crystal to single crystals fashion. The structures of methyl and t-butyl acrylates in the cavity of capsules were clearly confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis. Due to the strong encapsulation effect of networked capsules, the installed acrylate monomers did not undergo polymerization even upon heating or UV irradiation while the delivery of these guests was controlled on demand upon addition of toluene.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
To assist and accelerate the development of reagent-installed capsule networks, the isostructral discrete solution is synthesized. Though the study of solution chemistry, the acrylate esters are screened as suitable guest molecules. The acrylate-installed capsule networks are synthesized and I have found that networked capsules can stabilize the acrylate esters without addition of stabilizer even upon UV irradiation and heating. Therefore, I evaluate that my research progress well.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In 2013, our group has developed crystal sponge for visualization of guest molecules in nano- to micro-gram scale using porous complexes. Since the crystal sponge mainly contained hydrophobic porous constructed from aromatic ligands, analyzes are limited to hydrophobic compounds. To extent analyzes, such as hydrophilic molecules, the new crystal sponge is required urgently. In the next year research, I would like to synthesis new crystal sponge which contained hydrophilic pores, and I will test suitable solvent for guest encapsulation and develop new method for analyzing biologic molecules such as amino acid and sugars.
