| Research Abstract |
This cooperative research was held under three subunits (family, market and risk society). In each subunit it was discussed, how the global or regional standard issued by EU and the local standard issued by each member state can be harmonized or cooperated. And it was also analyzed, how these discrepancies of two or more different rules can be resolved.
In general, so far as coordination of different rules is concerned, EU commission has explored and developed various schemes in various domains. We can take out from them many fertile indications about legislative technique in case of regional rule coordination. However as economic unification and consumer protection for example, there is a dilemma or trade-off between them. Because EU legislation aims at the former by elimination of economic activities' obstacles existing between member states, the latter represents each member state's own social and cultural diversity assured by EU Treaty itself. We must further keep an eye on how EU manages this difficult task in future.
Characteristic of this research is that, in addition to the final report, we have settled our own website and from there continuously informed outside of our activity and books information bought by this grant-in-aid. And we have compiled translations of foreign researchers' report as addendum of the final report.
By this occasion almost all members of this research have traveled across Europe for research and made up many personal contacts with foreign academics and organizations needed for future research.
