| Research Abstract |
デデリエ洞窟の居住史の新たな知見を得ることによって当洞窟の文化層序をほぼ確定するにいたった。各文化層の特徴を上層から順次その特徴を要約する。
(1)歴史時代
現地表面直下から発見される生活面。ビザンツ時代のコイン・ガラス製品、その他鉄器時代までさかのぼる鉄器・土器類を包含する地層
(2)晩期旧石器時代
約11,000BPのナトウーフ時代の生活面。同文化期の石器・骨角器等、さらにムシロガイやツノガイを素材とするビーズ類等を伴う構築物が発見された。
(3)中期旧石器時代
約50,000BP以前の中期旧石器時代の洞窟の主体をなす生活面。最大の特徴はムステリアンタイプの石器が主体となるインダストリーである。ただ、ムステリアンタイプの石器には二種類あり、1993年以降発見されたネアンデルタール人骨に伴った後期ムステリアンタイプと、その下層から新たに発見された前期ムステリアンタイプである。
(4)前期旧石器時代
約300,000BP以降に現れるヤブルディアンタイプの石器を主体とする前期旧石器末期の生活面。
以上の結果から、当洞窟が前期旧石器から歴史時代まで極めて長大な人類史の証拠を留めていることが判明した。ただ、各時代の証拠、遺構・遺物はいまだに断片的である。引き続き資料の系統的・組織的収集が不可欠である。
