Research Abstract |
Statistical matching, which is also called "data fusion" in Europe, is a method to combine multiple data files to produce a pseudo data set by matching similar individuals in different files. Such a combined data set is usually unavailable. In our research, we obtained the data for twenty years (1980-2000) from Family Income and Expenditure Survey and Family Savings Survey by a legal procedure, and performed various analyses using matched files. Part of our research was published as papers, and other experiments are presented as working papers. Papers presented at conferences are "Income, Expenditure and Savings of Worker's Household - an Examination of Life Cycle Permanent Income Hypothesis," (Japanese Economic Society), "Analysis of Inequality among Worker's Household using micro data from Family Income and Expenditure Survey and Family Savings Survey," (Japan Statistical Society), and "Decomposition of Consumer Behavior into Cohort Effect, Age Effect, and Time Effect using Microdata," (Japan Statistical Society). We also investigated some theoretical issues of statistical matching methodology and collected applications in Europe, including Berlin session of the International Statistical Institute held in August 2003. The result was published in a paper.
