Research Abstract |
In this study, mix design method for High-Compactable Concrete was discussed on the assumption that the coarse aggregates in concrete move with stuck mortar on their surface. The conclusions of the experiments and the discussions were summarized as follows. 1.The thickness of stuck mortar was estimated by the size of coarse aggregate and the amount of high-range water-reducing and air-entraining admixture. 2.Concerning the thickness of stuck mortar and water content that is converted by the amount of high-range water-reducing and air-entraining admixture, the fluidity of High-Compactable Concrete could be estimated by the theory of Thickness of Excess Mortar. 3. As the fluidity of concrete, the fluidity and the segregation of mortar could be estimated by the thickness of water covering the surface of particles such as cement, fly ash and fine aggregate. And, it was found that adding coal ash into mortar was very effective to improve fluidity and to reduce segregation.
