Research Abstract |
Purpose Powder metallurgy is a metal processing technology. The porous titanium produced from powder is widely used. It is applied to titanium, which is not easy to cast as it sinters under melting point. When it was used in prosthetic dentistry, application to high fusing metal that is biocompatible becomes possible. Then, the examination of mechanical characters of the Ti sheet produced by sintering was carried out and the application to dental prosthesis manufacture were discussed. Method Ti sheets of 1mm thickness which were added the binder to the spherical Ti powder was produced with the doctor blade method. The sintering was carried out between 900〜1150℃ at 6 kinds of temperatures. The sintered compact was evaluated by dimensional change rate, hardness test, bending strength, tensile strength and SEM observation. Another compact was sintered on the refractory cast. Results and Conclusion Mechanical strengths significantly increased with the sintering temperature. In addition, excellent mechanical strengths was acquired by adding crushed powder and de-binder process. And, in the sintering on the refractory cast, pre-baking over 100 minutes and sintering over 1050℃ was needed for practical application. It seemed possible to apply the sintered titanium to dental prosthesis. However, it will be necessary to examine the control of the shrinkage of the sintered compact in the future too.
