Research Abstract |
The tetragonal ternary compound shows a peculiar magnetization process and temperature dependence of magnetic susceptibility. This work has been performed to understand this magnetic behavior 1) This peculiar behavior is intrinsic nature for this compound because some single crystals made show the same behavior 2) The electrical resistivity shows a hysteresis and rapid change around 4 K, indicating the first order magntic transition 3) From neutron diffraction study, the transition at 4 K is an antiferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic transition where a simple antiferromagnetic structure changes a incommensurate long-range period structure 4) From measurement of specific heat, magnetic entropy is estimated to be Rln2 until TN, indicating that the ground state is a doublet. Hyperfine field is also estimated to be 3 Moe from low temperature specific heat which is comparable to one in Pr These results will be presented at the International Conference on Strongly Correlated Electron Systems in July 2004 at Karlsruhe, Germany
