Research Abstract |
This research has been carried out from 2002 to 2004 and the following outcomes have been obtained. 1.Design of the dimensions of ring shaped-magnets by FEM Making use of three-dimensional FEM software, the inner and outer diameters, as well as the thickness of ring-shaped magnets were designed as 63 mm, 17 mm and 3 mm, respectively, according to the specifications required for output the power equivalent to a human heart. 2.Manufacturing an actuator and its tests Two ring-shaped magnets of which dimensions had been designed were manufactured and the magnetic force occurring on the magnets were measured with respect to not only their distance but also their relative rotational angle. 3.Trial manufacture and performance tests of a pump A pump with the ring-shaped magnets was manufactured and its performance tests were carried out As a result the pump output of 1 W was obtained. 4.Evaluation of pump efficiency The efficiency of the pump, 38%, was experimentally obtained. 5.Powering up the output of the actuator Power performance improved actuator was made with the magnets of which outer diameter and thickness were 75 mm and 4.5 mm, respectively. Its specification was determined by assuming the pump output flow of 6 liter per minute under 100 mmHg. 6.Final test results The pump output of 1.0 W and 1.3 W where 45 and 3.5 liter per minute, respectively, was ultimately obtained.
