Research Abstract

There is a growing body of evidence that the neuroendocrine and immune systems are engaged in a functionally relevant crosstalk with each other. These interactions are also directly linked to the stress system and derangement of this system will lead to the impairment of protective function in neural system against to the stress.
In the monkey hippocampus, we found microglial cells expressed ELR+ CXC chemokines and their receptor CXCR2 after the start of ischemia and reperfusion and on day 4 after ischemia, ERβ immunoreactivity increased remarkably in the radiate and molecular layers of CA1 in the monkey hippocampus. Further, we found that Unkei-to has a functional antagonistic action on the response to CRF and may attenuate stress responses, we assess whether the herbal medicine Unkei-to has an impact on HRT-resistant menopausal depressive symptoms as an effective adjunctive therapy combined with HRT. We found treatment with Unkei-to was significantly effective in reduction of depression score and that Unkei-to is another option as an adjunctive herbal therapy in HRT-resistant menopausal depressive women.
