Research Abstract

In the fixed quantity of bad breath, it is a worldwide standard to make VSC(Volatility sulfur compounds) an index. However, there is an example that is not detected VSC even if stinking in the sensory inspection. and this is a problem of the bad breath science. Then, it was not all densities that were able to be detected though the stink elements other than VSC were analyzed by the gas chromatography.
Might it be guessed that hydrogen is generated with the stink in the reluctance fermentation in the enteric canal, too, and measuring this hydrogen become the index of the stink.
This is a reason why it starts the research that we measure hydrogen from the mouth air.
The device that detected the hydrogen contained in the gas of the mouth with a semiconductor sensor with uniqueness to hydrogen was developed.
The concentration of hydrogen in a human mouth was 1 to 200ppm, and the detection sensitivity endured practical use. The resident's agreement was obtained and hydrogen and VSC were measured. Moreover, the relation to the question paper investigation of the digestive organs symptom was examined.
Results
1)The concentration of hydrogen that had been obtained from intraoral gas was 2.4ppm in average.
2)A plain correlation was not admitted between hydrogen and the VSC concentration.
3)The tendency with high concentration of hydrogen of the person who appealed for the slump to a digestive tube was shown.
4)The correlation was seen between periodontitis and the concentration of hydrogen.
5)There is a possibility that hydrogen can be used as indices of the bad breath in the mouth other than VSC that could not be measured so far.
Conclusion
Bad breath and digestive organs have some relations.
There are some relations up to the concentration of hydrogen and the periodontal pocket in the mouth, and it becomes the starting point of a new research.
