| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
これまでの2年間で鹿児島県本土および種子島から採集したハタンポ属魚類の標本および、日本各地から採集した稀種のハタンポ属の標本から得られた耳石を用いて年齢解析をおこなった。その結果、大型になるユメハタンポやダイトウハタンポでは寿命が20歳前後であるなど、これまでの小型あるいは中型のハタンポ属での研究結果と大きく異なる結果となった。また、鹿児島県で得た個体を用いてミナミハタンポおよびリュウキュウハタンポの産卵期を推定し、沖縄島で得られていた知見と比較して、産卵期が夏季に近く、寿命が長くなる傾向が認められた。
2015年度に実施した与那国島における魚類相調査の結果に加え、日本各地の博物館に所蔵された与那国島産の標本と過去の文献調査をおこなった。その結果、与那国島からは現時点で600種が分布することが明らかになった。この結果は書籍として2016年9月に出版され、高い評価を得た。また、これと並行した追加調査により、日本初記録となるウツボ属2種が同島から採集された。与那国島の他にも琉球列島の黒島、トカラ列島平島や奄美大島、与路島、請島、沖永良部島、また台湾の澎湖、金門島、小琉球などで魚類採集調査を実施し、新種や日本初記録種などを含む約2000個を採集し、数多くの成果を得た。これらの採集標本に基づく標本は、2016年度以前に採集した標本とあわせて随時報告をおこなっている。また、3年間にわたり毎月おこなった鹿児島県内之浦漁港で得られた標本を整理し、同港に500種以上が水揚げされることが明らかになるとともに、多くの生鮮写真とともに各種を解説した魚類図鑑を作成中である。
