Outline of Annual Research Achievements

The focus of my research this year has been mainly on the phenomenological aspects of physics at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). I am involved in developing new methods to search for new physics at the LHC. One of my main aim is to look for dark matter at the LHC.

One of the projects I am involved in is about a systematic approach towards detecting dark matter at the LHC via events with missing energy. We propose a simplified model framework to study comprehensively events with missing energy in order to constrain parameter space of dark matter models. This is a collaborative project involving researchers from CERN and Berkeley. It is going to be available in the form of preprint soon.

In collaboration with the Hongo group of particle theory, I have studied a new method of analyzing extremely busy new physics events at the LHC. An example of such event is the production of a pair of top partner, which decays to Higgs and top quark. A final state involving two Higgs bosons and two top quarks in the fully hadronic channel would have up to 10 jets detected at the LHC. While fat jet techniques are good at characterizing these particles, such busy events would lead to an overlap among the fat jets, making the conventional fat jet techniques ineffective. We have developed a new approach and made use of a method called ``buckets" to deal with this problem effectively. The preprint of the paper is [arXiv:1505.02930] and it is published in Physical Review D.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.

Reason

I have continued my study in dark matter and its relations with experiments. I have also published some peer-reviewed papers of my work.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

I will keep abreast of the latest experimental results, especially the LHC Run2, and analyze dark matter models from the implications of the upcoming data and results.
